Abstract

This collection of Bernard Henry Pennings' materials contains all that the St. Norbert College Archives has collected on the life of Bernard Pennings. A larger collection of materials by and about Pennings is located at the St. Norbert Abbey Archives in East De Pere, WI.

The College Archival biographical articles and materials about Bernard Pennings and his presidency of St. Norbert College are quite complete. Pennings was president from 1898 to 1955.

A small collection of newspaper articles from the De Pere Journal, the Green Bay Press-Gazette, and the St. Norbert Times are in the collection. A group of photographs are part of the collection, but the majority of photos of Pennings are in the archives photo collection and not included here. There is an index to the photos in the archives photo collection.

Awards and anniversaries and articles on necrology are parts of this register. A few publications and letters by Pennings are included. The majority of his letters are found in the book LETTERS WRITTEN IN GOOD FAITH: The Early Years of the Dutch Norbertines in Wisconsin, translated and edited by Dr. Walter Lagerwey, Alt Publishing Co. Green Bay, Wisconsin 1996.
