General

De Pere Community Night; Silver Knight Award; "Civis Princepts" (Latin for "First Citizen"). Begun 1967 by Rev. Dennis M. Burke, first award was to William Morris in 1968. The annual event brought together members of the St. Norbert College community with the memberships and wives of the De Pere Rotary, Kiwanis, Optimists, Lions, Masonic Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Chamber of Commerce and De Pere government officials. In addition, a citizen of De Pere was the recipient of the "Civis Princeps Silver Knight" award which went to a man or woman at least 35 years old with seven consecutive years in the community and a record of public service activity and leadership in the community.
