Biography

Most of my training and interests fall in the area of history of philosophy, with special emphasis on Nietzsche and Twentieth Century Analytic Philosophy. Having served on the ethics board at a local hospital, I have developed an interest in medical ethics and teach a course in the subject at St. Norbert College.

The religious dimension of the college helps to stimulate my interest in the spiritual questions associated with human life and experience and guides both my current research interests – Spinoza and affiliations between his thought and the eastern traditions of spirituality – and the development of my classroom materials.

I regularly teach courses in the Philosophy of Human Nature, The European Enlightenment, Medical Ethics, The Analytic Tradition, and Skepticism, Knowledge & Faith.
