Biography
Karina O'Malley joined the St. Norbert faulty in 1984 as a professor of sociology. Her educational background included graduate degrees in rehabilitation administration, sociology and education, and a doctorate in sociology and education from Columbia University. In addition to teaching, O'Malley had an extensive career undertaking social justice. Among her many accolades, in 1990, O'Malley founded Crossroads Center for Peace and Justice, a local social justice center and homeless shelter that serves women and families. She also helped found Green Bay's first homeless shelter in 1987, and to this end served in many organizations for the city and state throughout her career. Likewise, she received numerous awards for her activism and leadership towards human rights and community service. For her extensive contributions to campus and community, O'Malley was awarded Professor Emeritus in 1999.
