Biography

Dr. Thampy Mammen joined the St. Norbert faculty as an economics professor in 1968. A native of Kerala, India, Thampy received his master's degree in economics from Kerala University and Ph.D. in economics at the Wharton School of Economics, University of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching, he was an author and writer and founded the economic summit at St. Norbert, bringing several Nobel laureates to campus. An avid soccer player, Thampy also started the soccer program at St. Norbert College and coached the team for several years, in addition to coaching other regional Green Bay teams. He was also an active member and past president of the Fox Valley India Association. Thampy was awarded Professor Emeritus in 1999.
