Biographical / Historical
Seoung Lee Wilson joined St. Norbert College as a music professor in 1970, coming directly from Korea where she had been teaching voice at Keimyung Christian College and also concertizing for five years. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Louisville School of Music in 1956 and Masters in Music from Southern Methodist University in 1957. She studied voice with such noted artists as Madame Lotte Lehmann and with the noted baritone, Mack Harrell. Dr. Wilson also taught voice at Kyung Hee and Han Yang Universities in Seoul, Korea and Center College of Kentucky. She appeared with all the major orchestras in Korea, and in the United States was a guest soloist with the Charleston Symphony, Louisville Symphony, Southern Methodist University Orchestra, and in many oratorio performances with choral groups of educational institutions. She also sang leading roles with the Kentucky Opera Association, West Bay Opera, Peninsula Artists and Opera Company, and participated in the Aspen Summer Opera Workshop. Her many solo recitals took her throughout Korea and the southern and western sections of the United States. As a professor and performer, Seoung Lee was heavily involved in music at St, Norbert College. For her work and endeavors, in 1989, she was honored with professor emeritus.
