Biographical / Historical

Robert L. Hoffmann, "Hoff," attended St. Norbert College prior to enlisting in the Army and was called to active duty in June 1943. He served in the European Theatre with the 90th Infantry Division as a rifleman. In November of 1944, he was taken prisoner of war and held captive until May 1945. Robert was later made a Knight of the French Legion of Honour for services rendered to France during World War II. After liberation and subsequent discharge from the Army, he returned to school, receiving his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marquette University. Robert spent his entire career in the area, teaching at Central Catholic High School, Premontre High School, and eventually retiring from St. Norbert College in 1987. After retirement, he served for a time on the St. Vincent Hospital Ethics Committee and the Publishing Committee of Voyageur magazine, volunteered at Paul's Pantry, and worked many Saturday mornings at the Green Bay Farmers' Market.
