Biographical / Historical
Elizabeth Medland joined the St. Norbert faculty in 1970. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Ohio, another bachelor’s in Humanities from University of Chicago, and a master’s degree in Philosophy from University College, Dublin, Ireland. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Before embarking on a career in education in 1953, Elizabeth worked as a medical technologist, a communications officer with the U.S. Navy, a concert secretary at the University of Chicago and an executive secretary. Prior to joining the St. Norbert faculty, she also taught sociology at Rosemont College, St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, College of St. Catherine, and Keuka College.
